Quando era ancora un giovane ladro inesperto, Lupin III fu aiutato dalla bella Clarice. La ragazza, colpita dai modi gentili del ladro, decise di sorvolare sulla sua professione illegale. Ora Lupin intende ricambiare il favore, salvandola dal malvagio conte di Cagliostro, che l'ha rapita e la tiene prigioniera nel suo castello. Inoltre, il simpatico ladro vuole impadronirsi di alcuni preziosi cliché che fanno gola a molti, inclusa Fujiko. Azione e sentimenti nel film capolavoro del regista Hayao Miyazaki.
