Nel porto di San Juan a Portorico è in atto una caccia all'uomo. Victor Benezet, un anziano capitano di polizia sta cercando di mettere le mani su un depravato assassino che ha violentato e ucciso due bambine. Il distinto e facoltoso Henry Hearst, esponente di primo piano dell'isola, viene invitato da Victor nella stazione di polizia a dare alcuni chiarimenti sul rinvenimento di una delle due vittime.Tra i due comincia un serrato duello.
