Carlo Giordani, giornalista, si ritrova sulla pista dell'omicidio di uno scienziato che ha scoperto il codice genetico dell'inclinazione alla delinquenza. Giordani viene aiutato da Franco Arnò, un cieco appassionato di enigmistica. I due riescono a contattare la fidanzata del morto, ma anche lei, poco dopo, finisce male. La faccenda si fa sempre più rischiosa e ingarbugliata.
