La giovane Sarah Tobias viene violentata in un bar da tre individui, tra le risate degli altri clienti. Un ragazzo telefona alla polizia, ma inutilmente. Del caso s'incarica il viceprocuratore Katheryn Murphy che decide alla fine per l'imputazione di stupro, con l'accusa di istigazione a tutti quelli che vi hanno assistito. La tesi difensiva punta tutto sulla provocazione da parte della vittima.
