Un gruppo di pensionati inglesi, allettati dalla pubblicità di un lussuoso albergo appena restaurato, decidono di partire per l'India e mettere da parte il loro senso di inutilità. Giunti sul posto, scoprono però di essere stati ingannati e che l'albergo non ha niente di ciò che la pubblicità prometteva. Nonostante ciò, decidono di rimanere e scoprono con sorpresa che, una volta lasciatisi alle spalle il passato, sono pronti a incontrare nuove possibilità e, soprattutto, nuovi amori.
