Francesco Dellamorte ha scelto di rinchiudersi in una sorta di esilio volontario come guardiano del cimitero di un piccolo paesino. Con lui vive solo una strana creatura, una specie di muto folletto chiamato Gnaghi. Un brutto giorno però i morti decidono di tornare in vita, uscendo dalle loro tombe e seminando il terrore nel borgo. Dellamorte si vede così costretto a intervenire, uccidendo i morti per la seconda volta e seppellendoli di nuovo.
