In occasione della demolizione degli studi cinematografici Ginei, il regista Genya e il cameraman Kiyoji decidono di realizzare un documentario dedicato all'attrice più rappresentativa di tali studi: Chiyoko Fujiwara. La donna, ormai anziana e ritiratasi dalle scene, accetta di essere intervistata dai due; durante l'incontro, Genya restituisce all'attrice una misteriosa chiave, oggetto a lei molto caro ma creduto perduto da tempo.
