Una sera un amico racconta ad Ari di essere perseguitato tutte le notti dal medesimo incubo nel quale è inseguito da 26 cani. Entrambi sono convinti che il sogno sia da collegare al periodo in cui entrambi militavano nell'esercito israeliano, ai tempi della prima guerra con il Libano. Ari è stupito dalla sua memoria così povera di dettagli, e inizia così un percorso alla ricerca dei suoi vecchi compagni d'armi, dispersi in giro per il mondo, per ricostruire insieme a loro la verità su quegli anni e su se stesso. E man mano che penetra nei misteri della memoria inizia a essere perseguitato da immagini sempre più strane e surreali.
