In "I Wurdalak" (tratto da Aleksej Tolstoj) si narra di una famiglia che cade preda di una forma di vampirismo: uccidono chi hanno amato di più. Nella "Goccia d'acqua" (che risulta tratto da Cechov) un'infermiera ruba l'anello a una morta ignorando che la defunta era una medium: il furto le sarà fatale.
